It is essential to get an accurate measurement to ensure the best fit for your wedding dress or bridesmaid dress! Below is a helpful guide on measuring yourself for a wedding dress or bridesmaids dress.

Measuring Yourself for Bridesmaid or Wedding Dress

To begin, you will want to measure wearing the undergarments you plan to wear with your gown. Doing this will ensure the most accurate measurement. Once you feel comfortable, the measuring tape shouldn’t be pulled too tight or have too much slack and should always be parallel to the floor. Don’t let the tape droop or fall lower in the back.

Next, Stand comfortably with equal weight on both of your feet. With your arms resting easily at your sides and your stomach muscles relaxed and stand in front of a mirror.

Measuring guide
  • Bust – Standing straight, measure under your arms around the widest part of your back and the fullest part of the bust. Keep the tape measure parallel to the floor.
  • Waist – Measure your natural waistline. Stand up straight, bend at the waist to one side. The crease that forms is where your natural waist is located; take your measurement there.
  • Hips – Stand with legs together. Measure around the widest and fullest part of the hips. The fullest part of the hips could be as high as your lower tummy area, or as low as the upper thigh area.

We hope you found this tutorial on measuring yourself for a bridesmaid dresses or wedding dresses a helpful at home resource. If at all possible, we always recommend coming into the store to be measured by a stylist. We are happy to provide that type of service free of charge!

Sarah and Paul got married at the gorgeous Greenhouse Lofts in Chicago IL. It can be a difficult feat to get such a beautiful and calming feel in the city of Chicago but that is exactly what Sarah and Paul were able to accomplish. The setting was a perfect natural backdrop for this gorgeous couple.

Sarah wore a beautiful sheath style wedding dress by Essense of Australia [Style number D2533] This dress has amazingly intricate lace that shaped her body perfectly. Crepe material keeping with her understated but classic style. The spaghetti straps on her dress were a perfect compliment to the sexy open back Sarah was sporting.

It is all about natural neutrals this season. Beautiful neutrals make for a classic and timeless look that you will look back on a swoon over for years to come. Sarah did a remarkable job keeping a consistent theme across all platforms from florals, decor and attire.

Her bridesmaids wore mix and match styles by Sorella Vita in matching evergreen chiffon. Each style complemented each bridesmaids style in a unique and beautiful way.

It’s easy to get caught up in the details of the day, but you can tell Sarah & Paul really cherished every moment. The ceremony is one time during your big day to really focus on your relationship, where the next steps are taking you and how grateful you are to be at this point with your partner. Don’t forget to reflect on those details that day.

Congratulations to Sarah & Paul! We wish you both all the happiness in the world and truly hope the happiness you felt on your big day, shines through in your marriage. Thank you for choosing to be a #CrystalBrideForever!
